Back Home...what an incredible time!!

The SOS hostel which we stayed at, this allowed us to visit the SOS Village which is an orphanage-it was an amazing time :)

Then we went to the SOS college and we saw the history of Ghana's most significant events, including slavery. I was able to talk about Reconciliation after the Apartheid and how we need to move forward and focus on current issues- ie. the Envionmental crisis and talking about RSA's and Ghana's past!

It was a trip which has inspired and taught me a lot. Its funny how I was also able to have fun at the same time!!!

RIGHT NOW I'M GETTING MUNCHED BY MOZI's IN Ghana

I'm one of eleven teens from Cape Town to be part of the "Young African leaders Tour". This is the first tour and we're creating connections with the Accra International SOS secondary school.
We're touring around from Accra (capital) through many towns and cities to Cape Coast where we're getting a clear picture of what actually happening concerning the slave trade and where ghana is today....and how south Africa can be part of the solution!!

This is going to be a awesome asset for KAPE TO KENYA next Year!!

PROTEST FRIDAY!! 17th JUNE 2011!! Waterfront CAPE TOWN

Protest Action of annual Namibian Seal Slaughter- BE THERE!

Each year, 85 000 baby seals, still suckling from their mothers teats, get savagely beaten to death on the beaches of Namibia. A further 6 000 adult bull seals get shot at point blank range so that their penises can be used to make an ineffective aphrodisiac.

We say
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. We have made repeated calls to the Namibian Government to end this massacre, we have provided alternative solutions in terms of eco-tourism, but th
ere are none so deaf as those who shall not hear.

We will be holding a PEACEFUL demonstration on the
17th of June. All are welcome to attend. As a show of solidarity and to create a visual impact, supporters are asked to wear black and red. Bring your own posters, get creative!

PLEASE INVITE FRIENDS
PLEASE REPOST TO YOUR WALL
PLEASE INFORM THE MEDIA

HAPPY Environment Day!!

"URBAN FOREST"
Megan, fellow YEP, as well as her father was with me on the 5th of June 2011 for World Environment Day.

We were at Pinelands High school where there had been a big chunk of pavment riped out the ground for a green leaved friend.

Unlike the Northern part of the planet, S.A is in a cold spill and thats why one tree was a fair deal for NOW...

Pinelands High has pledged to make a !!FOREST!! at the school in August 2011!!

WHAT A KID!- This is what Y.G.S is all about!

"When Cole found out that Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) was cutting down trees in wetland forests in his home state of North Carolina, he took a small group of his friends to KFC headquarters to speak to KFC executives and deliver over 6,000 petition letters. They urged the company to be a leader in environmental business by using more post-consumer recycled paper in their packaging.

The two executives gave each child a paper voucher for $5 off their next KFC purchase and sent them on their way. KFC has not made any changes to their environmental policy."

Here is Cole's story

THE LAUCH!- "Bummer the camera didn't"

Low-down of the Presentation!!

The presentation went great, I spoke in front of roughly 50 people. It was small yet neat.

I presented my PANGAEA Himalayan Expedition AND MT. Elbrus, North Face

Basically, KAPE to KENYA has been officially launched.
its a new an unique expedition

incorporating PANGAEA & EPILEPSY S.A

Instead of flying through to Kenya...
We have decided to take ONLY public transport(taxi's, public buses, bicycles, ETC) up through Africa! Covering 6 African nations. and at the end attempting Africa's 2nd highest peak.

Why, this will be a green initiative. Raising awareness about Global Warming and destruction of our environment, which we've done. Why public transport? the idea of using public transport and carpooling is something which needs to become more popular (saving fossil fuels, lowering noise and air pollution, ECT.).

FINALLY! on our way up we'll be stopping at schools- sharing the idea of growing up and living in a sustainable community- A GREENER FUTURE!!

So, if it can be done up through Africa it can be done anywhere.

GET INVOLVED. SUPPORT THE CAUSE

Recap!!!

Recap........

OK, I've been out of touch with the whole blogging thing, no excuses.

2010- OK, how do I start to express how much it changed my view on life and how it changed me. I'm only 17, but it feels like I've been on this mortal coil for so much longer. Why?

From the last post,Yep, I did get through to the Himalaya expedition :) We spent a month in North Pakistan, Karakoram! The trip took us onto Baltorro Glacier, we researched the affect of Climate Change on the icy wilderness, we were the "Ginni-pigs" for the Mayo Clinic, and then Mike Horn lead an assault on an Uncharted "Virgin" Peak. We summited it, all 6170m's of it PANGAEA Peak!!
What made this something truly unique- the people of Pakistan. We get this stereotypical impression from our western ideals that the Middle East is full of bombs and violence, however all i saw was friendly and helpful people who live in a harsh and different environment.

Check the pix out!!
